It’s November and our yoga is now focused on the Wood Element.
Wood Element Yoga Classes focus on the Liver and Gall Bladder Meridians where we concentrate on movement that release the sides and the insides. If you want to to something good for your body this Spring, TWIST.
So here is Lisa’s rockin’ the Liver Asana, our posture of the month. Try this move at night to relieve stress, unwind and feel fantastic.
We have gone 1970’s with the B&W shot so we can show you where the Liver (LV) Meridian runs and how to tap into creativity of this meridian that is the essence of Spring- expansion and flexibility.
Start by bringing your left foot up high to the inside of the other thigh and relax that knee to the floor. Straighten through the right leg and be sure to keeping the toes pulling back for traction in the move and meridian.
Reach down and grab your right toes with your right hand (palm up if you can) and when you stretch down, try to keep your head near your top arm for extra strength and safety.
Focus Areas
One – Focus on stretching the Achilles tendon away on the straight leg.
Two – Focus on lifting your waist on the right hand side, don’t just collapse your ribs down onto your hip – hold strong.
Three – Push the bend leg down into the floor with your bottom firmly on the floor.
Four – Try to twist the chest up towards the ceiling to activate the top of the LV meridian.
Your breathing in Remedial Yoga Therapy is very important. Concentrate on your focus points and breathe evenly IN through the nose and OUT through the mouth.
You will feel the tension melting away with each breath and enjoy this Spring Move!
