It’s the start of a new year and our yoga is now focused on the Fire Element.
Fire Element Yoga Classes focus on the Heart & Small Intestine Meridians where we concentrate on postures that release heat and promotes good circulation – the move we move our blood and lymph fluid, the move our body can control its temperatures. If you want to to something good for your body this Summer, let your CHEST OPEN.
Lisa is showing us how the Heart Warrior is done, our posture of the month. This is one to do of a morning to give as it will give you some of that famous get up’n’go we all hear about!
Start standing with your legs together, hands in prayer position in front of your chest. Now take a deep breath in and breath out to lunge forward with the right leg whilst keeping your back leg straight. Get nice and steady with a deep breath in then exhale and twist to the right, placing your forearms on your right thighs, looking back over your body. Hold for 3 to 5 breaths then repeat on the other side. If one side is heaps harder than the other one, try the hard side again.
Focus Areas
One – Focus on keeping your back leg straight.
Two – Lunging as deep as you can, aiming to have your thigh parallel to the floor, holding strong.
Three – Pull your belling in tight to twist, keeping your waist and lower back long for extra twist.
Four – Relax and open the front of the chest and shoulders to get the most out of this heart meridian move.
Your breathing in Remedial Yoga Therapy is very important. Concentrate on your focus points and breathe evenly IN through the nose and OUT through the mouth.
You will feel invigorated, building power and energy each breath. We love this Summer Move!
